Fordhall has experienced much evolution over the years – from a dairy farm, to a pasture-fed meat producer, to the first community-owned farm in England. It may not surprise you, then, to learn that during these years, it also became a wedding venue! With sweeping views of the Tern Valley, peaceful woodland, and idyllic farm fields, past visitors to the walking trails may understand why couples choose to hold their celebration here.

Celebrating at the farm offers a certain flexibility to the day, with couples able to design their day to suit them – maybe your preference is to get married outdoors; perhaps you would like a smaller more intimate event; possibly you were looking for a more environmentally aware way to celebrate? Worry not, it is all within the remit of a Fordhall wedding! The site is even fully registered with Shropshire Council, so there is no need to visit a church or registry office to legalise your union.

Whether embracing or shirking a traditional ceremony, there is a selection of ceremony locations available on site – from the Straw Lodge with views of the rolling hills, to the hand-built Roundhouse in the woodland, to our Norman Ringwork and Bailey heritage site above the valley, or even our Foggage room for a more intimate gathering. Plan your date just right, and you may just be getting married amongst a carpet of bluebells in the woods (though unfortunately we cannot guarantee nature’s timing!).

Bespoke offerings aren’t just extended to the ceremony and celebration, our feasts also feature a wide range of options to suit all tastes, dietary requirements and budgets. Reducing food miles and a passion for caring for the environment drives our usage of seasonal, local and organic ingredients. Fordhall’s in-house chef and catering team will help you construct your wedding menu, whether you would like a beautifully presented Grazing Table or a delicious multi-course meal, and prepare it all freshly on-site on the big day.

Whether you are bringing 20 or 150 guests with you, the celebrations team are here to make your vision for the day a reality. Plus, the added bonus of knowing that any profits made are reinvested into our community work onsite.
